In order to help you better understand your child’s learning this year, we are going to hold a different type of conference this spring. Students will be leading the conference and explaining to you what they have been doing in each of the core subject areas this quarter. Our students have begun collecting information and tracking their own data in order to present their efforts and achievements to you. Teachers will be present in the classroom during conferences in case students need guidance. They will also be available to answer any questions you may have. However, these conferences will not be held privately so there may be one or two other families in the classroom during your student-led conference. If you wish to speak to the teacher privately, please make a separate appointment at a different time.
You can expect the following things to happen at your student-led conference:
Students have worked very hard preparing for these conferences, so please be sure to attend. It is their chance to show you all the work they have done this quarter. You will have the opportunity to ask your child questions regarding his/her progress. Sample questions can be found on the back of this letter. Please review the questions in order to prepare for your student-led conference. We look forward to seeing you on conference day!

Attention Parents! The School Choice Window for grades K-12 is now open! The window will close on March 1st. Applications must be made through the Parent Portal or on the district web site—GO TO: www.pueblocityschools.us and click on the yellow schoolhouse button for more information and how to apply. The Waitlist Window will be open from May 1, 2017 to June 30, 2017. Any student NOT receiving a School Choice Approval letter will be required to attend their Neighborhood School.
*If your child is in grades K-4 already at Haaff, you do not have to fill out another choice application unless you are contacted by the school.
**Fifth grade parents wanting their child to attend a middle school that is not their home school will also need to fill out a choice form for next year.
If your family lives in University Park, and you would be willing to put up a yard sign advertising fall 2017 enrollment at Haaff, please pick up a sign in the office!
This year we will be having a breakfast to honor our first semester awards recipients. The breakfast will take place on Friday, February 3rd. Students will be invited if they have achieved honor roll or character counts status for the first semester of this year. Parents will also be invited.
We are excited to invite our Haaff families to join us for our next Family Night. Please join us in your child's classroom to learn about academic software programs that are available for use at home. You will also have the opportunity to complete a holiday themed writing activity as a family. Following the activity, visit the Holiday Shop, enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus (don't forget your camera), and stay to enjoy the 5th grade musical if you choose. See you soon!
PTO will be sponsoring our Holiday Shop again this year! Due to limited volunteers, we will not be holding a preview for students this year. Look for a flyer coming home soon that will list items and prices. The Shop will be open on Dec. 13th-15th from 10:00 am-1:00 pm. We will also have the Holiday Shop open during Family Night on December 15th from 5:00-6:30 pm.
